
The Reverend Elvyn Ledell Hamilton, a native of Winona, MS, is married to the former Bessie Mae Jenkins of Gainesville, AL. He was born the 2nd of three children to Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Hamilton (Lillie). Elvyn holds a BS degree in Mathematics with a minor in music (low brass emphasis) from Livingston University in Livingston, AL (1992). In 1995, he received his Masters of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY. Elvyn has served various Churches in KY since 1994, including African American and Anglo Churches, as well serving on the KY conference staff as the Coordinator of African American Church development for two years. Rev. Hamilton has a heart for financial stewardship and Church development. Elvyn has also served on the General Council on Finance and Administration of the UMC. He enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and two beautiful daughters.
The former Bessie Mae Jenkins is a native of Gainesville, Alabama. Bessie was born the 7th of 8 children to Rev. and Mrs. P.S. Jenkins, Jr. (Christine). She is married to the Reverend Elvyn L. Hamilton and has two beautiful daughters, Makaria (8) and Manda (6). Bessie holds a Bachelors Degree from Stillman College (Tuscaloosa, AL) and a Masters Degree from the University of West Alabama (Livingston, AL) in Elementary Education. She has worked as an elementary school teacher, a motivational speaker, a development director and a fund-raiser. She is currently a student at Vanderbilt Divinity School pursuing a Masters of Divinity degree in Nashville. Bessie is pursuing ordination as an Elder in the United Methodist Church. She is currently a certified candidate. Her talents include singing and performing dramatic monologues. In her limited spare time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family, and serving in ministry with her husband.
Makaria Leigh Hamilton was born on February 20, 2001, in Louisville, KY. Makaria is the Greek New Testament word for “blessed or happy”. Makaria will enter the third grade in the fall. Makaria plans to be a chef when she grows older. She enjoys playing with her sister and friends, watching TV, gymnastics, and cooking.
Manda Lae Hamilton was born on November 15, 2002, in Lexington, KY. Manda which rhymes with “Honda” is the word for “wisdom” in the Hebrew Bible. Manda will enter the first grade in the fall. Manda plans to be a gymnast and an artist when she grows older. She enjoys playing with her sister and friends, playing with animals, watching TV and drawing. |
